Felstone Consulting Limited’s Director, Simon Higson, features in May’s Quarry Management.
Titled ‘A Rich Legacy and Valuable Resource’ the article highlights how restored former quarry workings can provide ideas and inspiration for quarry managers, planners and designers.
The sites profiled were visited during 2025 and are all biological Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and as such form part of England’s most important areas of natural heritage.
The nature reserves are all open to the public and cover a wide range of locations and habitats on former workings of clay, sand and gravel and limestone.
